Built On Trust, Fueled by Passion

The foundation for amazing software is amazing people who truly want to be there. Trust doesn’t appear at Classic Programmers after small talk and years’ worth of zoom calls. We believe in each other to give our all, voice our opinions and value the work we do.
We choose to be mentors instead of micromanaging. We do our best to provide help to each other. No room for egos, just execution.
“Good enough” isn’t good enough. We build things we’re proud of, period.
All performers have an opportunity to use the microphone. We review all the code that is submitted. Your growth? It’s a team goal, not something you do by yourself, alone.

Code and Character go hand-in-hand here

Let’s cut to the chase: at Classic Programmers, “culture” isn’t some corporate wallpaper. It’s the motherboard. The secret sauce. The playlist on repeat in our collective brain.
We didn’t just form a business. We designed a place where developers, designers and thinkers are able to do exceptional work, perhaps their most impressive yet. Craftsmanship? We’ve almost reached obsessive levels. Have an idea that’s a bit out of the ordinary? Good, because that’s our native language. Collaboration? We don’t have to make it happen; we just breathe like this. We aim to build an office where it’s normal to ask questions, give your best each day and easily work as a team. It feels like we’ve managed.
Our company isn’t a dry corporation, yet we also have boundaries. We always watch our actions, our beliefs and the way we interact with others. We’re intentional. All our actions, including our code and our communication, are motivated by purpose.

The Code Is Clean, The Vibe Is Cleaner

Here’s what we believe in:

  • Autonomy: Wanna own your thing? Go for it. Got an idea bouncing around? Run with it.
  • Focus: Distractions? Hard pass. Office politics? Nah. Just results.
  • Respect: Don’t see it as something to be admired only from a poster. We encourage one another, focus on those using our products and have the same main goal in view.
  • Learning: We review code together every week, talk about our knowledge and focus on the fine details.
  • Fun: Deploy day celebrations, meme battles, legendary arguments about tabs vs. spaces. We laugh, we roast, we ship.

Different Minds, United Souls

We have people new to engineering as well as experts with more than ten years of experience. Expanding our thinking is relevant to us. No matter how strange it is, we are open to hearing the ideas. We want to hear different points of view, even weird ideas! Great ideas don’t come from everyone agreeing all the time, they come from people challenging each other and all wanting to do great things.
A shared obsession with building software that’s elegant, unbreakable, and caring about how we get there, not just the result. We think that what we do together matters.

It’s More Than a Job, Not Just a Gig. This Is Art

This culture is for people who like to build things. It’s for people who love the small details, really care about performance and are thrilled at making something load faster. We get excited about the fine print, handle major issues seriously and consider coding to be an art.
We’re not just following the latest trends. We’re here for the classics, the kind of software that will be around for a long time.
